Sustainable Saunders Survey
As part of the Sustainable Saunders initiative, The Social Sciences Public Policy Center administered a survey of all the Saunders occupants in Spring 2007. Questions were developed in cooperation with the Sustainable Saunders HUB student group, and the web portion of the survey was constructed by the College of Social Sciences Information Technology Office.
"The Future of Food at UHM"
These discussions will provide students, faculty and staff the chance to learn more about a variety of food-related issues, then to give input to help frame specific conditions in the RFPs (request for proposals) and eventually the vendor contracts for the campus' food services. Discussion comments will be collected, summarized and posted for further review. The process from RFPs through the issuing of new contracts takes about a year to be completed. As of October 2007, THE OFFICE OF STUDENT AFFAIRS (under the Vice Chancellor for Students, Dr. Francisco Hernandez) will handle the contracts for (1) Residential Dining (the dorms, etc.), and (2) Retail dining in the Campus Center and Hemenway Hall. AUXILIARY SERVICES will handle the contracts for (1) Beverage/vending Operations, (2) Arena Concessions, (3) Catering Services, and (4) other food retail outlets NOT handled by Student Affairs – Paradise Palms, the Sustainability Courtyard, and the "cubes" (the small kiosks around campus).
