Charge to the Commission
The commission is tasked with two primary responsibilities.
First, the Commission will serve as a resource to advance the public
awareness of the consequences of climate change on Hawai'i, the nation,
and beyond.
Second, the Commission will foster multidisciplinary research and
advance education and public outreach on the environmental, economic,
legal, engineering, and social implications of climate change.
The Commission will also monitor and recommend strategies to reduce
greenhouse gas emissions associated with activities ofthe University
ofHawai'i at Manoa. Manoa has a responsibility to share our expertise
and to engage collaboratively on climate issues of consequence to our
local and global community.
